Not all questions have equal value. Planning, reflecting and problem solving require specific ways of thinking. Learning-focused mentors craft inquiries that purposefully include cognition and produce higher levels of thinking. Inquiries that invite and focus thinking enhance professional capacity and advance self-directed learning. Inquiries are customized in order to be developmentally appropriate to the level of the practitioner’s knowledge and skills, in the moment and over time.

This interactive session will provide strategies and tools to develop inquiries that focus on criteria for choices, source of data, evidence and purposes or reasons for delving into educational practices. Participants will engage with the content through practice and application of the strategies and tools, facilitated discussion and video models.
