This engaging, collaborative session will take participants through the beginning stages of SEL district-wide implementation using a grass roots model used at Walnut Valley Unified School District. In this workshop, participants will see how a district formed and empowered an SEL K-12 advisory cohort that researched different SEL models, created district surveys, desegregated data, planned curriculum, and delivered engaging and energetic social emotional presentations to various stakeholders across the district. Learn how a district vision and mission statement were developed to ignite hope and to promote positive emotional support for students and the school community. At this dynamic workshop, presenters with K-12 experience, will also model meaningful, hands-on SEL strategies. Participants will engage in making powerful student connections, participate in SEL activities, learn how to make a calming jar, and will practice other meaningful SEL strategies that can be immediately used in their classrooms or sites. Other highlights of the workshop will be the Mood Meter from Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence RULER Program and the development of wellness spaces at various sites. Get ready to make SEL Mission Possible at your site!
