Through a combination of theory and real-world classroom implications, this session will focus on mentoring new teachers who are facing issues with poverty in their classrooms. This workshop will look at both generational and situational poverty in order to identify best practices to assist mentors in reviewing poverty's effect on learning and social-emotional well-being. Participants will leave with mentoring ideas and stems to assist new teachers feel equipped to work with students who deal with poverty in an effort to promote an equitable classroom for all.
