The breakout session will highlight the Level Up Your Mentorship, ( LUYM) microcredential created and run through the Orange County Department of Education.
Participants will be guided through a virtual field-trip with the LUYM and will participate in an interactive, mock creative process of building program specific microcredential badges. The California Teaching Commission requires every California Induction program to document the mentor growth for mentors participating in their programs. LUYM does this in an engaging and effective way. As the mentors complete the activities, they earn badges that lead to the microcredential. Instead of creating more things for the mentors to do, the LUYM activities parallel the mentoring process throughout the year. Each activity provides program specific opportunities for the participants to enhance their mentoring practice, as well as reflect and document their skills and growth.
Administrators or coaches could also use this microcredential process, as a high engagement feature to vet their teachers in specific target areas of knowledge, skill or ability.
