The Los Angeles Administrative Services Credential (LAASC) program is a two-year clear administrative credential program. In addition to gathering evidence to demonstrate professional learning and growth around the CPSELs, each candidate engages in a two-year Problem of Practice (PoP) inquiry. Through an equity lens and coaching support, candidates conduct research focuses on instructional and/or systemic issues. Through the continuous improvement model, administrators select an issue, identify potential causes, and implement a research-based action-plan. Over 24 months they monitor, analyze results, revise the action plan, draw conclusions, and reflect on the process and the impact on their leadership development. We have approximately 186 leaders that have engaged in PoP this inquiry cycle and have presented their findings in a culminating leadership conference.

Common themes explored through the inquiry cycle include equity and access, reclassification, chronic absenteeism, intervention, least restrictive environments, and positive behavior support. Learn how this work started small, scaled up, frequently blossomed, and continues to positively impact students and our district long after our candidates have received their credential. Through coaching and the PoP inquiry process LAASC continues to transform leadership practices in LAUSD.
