When I believe that I have a voice, I speak. When I believe that my voice is valued, I listen. When I listen, I learn. Establishing classrooms in which students believe that their viewpoints matter results in students eager to interact with perspectives outside of their own personal frames of reference. And students who learn to appreciate the others’ points-of-view grow-up to be adults with global perspectives. In Change Your Aim: Inclusive Practices for All Classrooms, we look at working toward the inclusive classroom as a model for establishing equitable, supportive, and welcoming learning environments that foster the qualities necessary in becoming global citizens: self-confidence and motivation, teamwork, empathy, and reflection. Participants should expect a combination of slide presentation, discussion, and hands-on planning for next steps.
