Elizabeth Veal is the Director of the SMCOE/Alder GSE Teacher Residency Program at the San Mateo County Office of Education. In her role, she works in partnership with Alder Graduate School of Education to recruit and educate excellent teachers and leaders who reflect our schools’ communities. In her 27 years in education, she has served staff, students, and families from both historically underserved and affluent communities as a teacher, elementary site administrator, and county office leader. Her passion as an educator and lifelong learner centers around inspiring and empowering people to disrupt the inequities in our educational system so that all students receive access to a K-12 education focused on anti-racist, socially and emotionally inclusive, equitable practices.
